Q. How is the source of Lactase cultured?

A. The Aspergillus oryzae is put on wheat bran and steamed so that the fungus grows. It is cultured for a couple of days, then water is poured over it to extract the Aspergillus into the water. It is then dried and purified.

Q. Is the Lactase Enzyme related to Penicillin?

A. They are entirely different. The Lactase is derived from Aspergillus oryzae which comes from wheat or rice hulls.
