The vitamin B family is an important group of nutrients, each with its own biological role to play. As a group, the B’s work
together in the body and can be found in the same foods. Because of this “togetherness,” they are called the B complex
vitamins.
B complex usually includes a combination of all the B’s to provide maximum effectiveness. Our B vitamin formulas come
in a variety of potencies, ranging up to 100 mg per B vitamin in a complex tablet or capsule. The term “balanced” on the
label simply refers to the formulation of the product. For example, if each vitamin is listed as 50 milligrams (mg) or
micrograms (mcg), then it is balanced, meaning most the vitamins are available in equal amounts. However, all of our B
complex products contain 400 mcg of folic acid, which meets 100% RDI.
B complex formulas are often marketed as “stress complex” formulas, based on the theory that stress taxes the adrenal
glands and B vitamins can help nourish and replenish the nutrient stores of the stressed organs.
When we eat nutrient rich foods, the vitamins are gradually released as the food is digested. Since water soluble vitamins,
such as vitamin C and B complex must be supplied throughout the day, each day, our prolonged release formula attempts
to mimic the way we receive these nutrients from food over two to six hours. For a variety of reasons, some consumers
