Q. How do I go about selecting the best shade?
A. Look at the colour swatches on the chart provided by your chemist or health shop, or check here. Alternatively, contact us and we will gladly provide a copy of the chart.
Q. How often should I colour my hair?
A. Gentle Vegetal Colours can be applied as often as once a week, or when colour washes out after 6-8 shampoos. When using permanent Herbatint shades, we recommend colouring regrowth which is often noticeable after 4-5 weeks.
Q. How do I maintain colour treated hair?
A. Natural Antica Herbavita hair colourings are very gentle products. However, if your hair tends to be dry and brittle, use Royal Cream Conditioner after shampooing. Also, Rosemary Oil Treatment helps restructure and strengthen treated hair.
Q. Do I need to use plastic gloves when I colour my hair?
A. Wearing gloves is recommended, and we provide them.
Q. How do Antica Herbavita colourings compare to henna?
A. Unlike Antica Herbavita, which penetrates the hair with colour, henna creates a solid coating around the hair shaft, making it impossible for other colour treatments to be used. Henna tends to weaken hair and make it less elastic. Also, henna is very limited in its colour choices, takes a very long time to mix and apply , and cannot cover grey in a natural way
Q. I recently permed my hair; can I now colour it?
A. Yes, but because permed hair is more porous, we suggest a shade one level lighter than your normal use.
Q. Can I perm my hair after colouring it?
A. Yes, but we suggest waiting 15-20 days after colouring. As perming may weaken or damage hair, we recommend using Royal Cream Conditioner and Rosemary Oil treatments which are designed to strengthen treated hair.
Q. What does chlorine do to colour-treated hair?
A. Chlorine reacts with hair colour in different ways. For example, blonde hair can take on a greenish tinge, brunette can come up to red and medium shades can turn brassy. Prolonged and frequent exposure to chlorine, salt water and sun can leave colour-treated hair extremely dry and straw-like.
We suggest the following:
Put a small amount of Royal Cream through dry hair before entering the pool. This will seal the outer hair and protect hair from chemical damage.
Always shampoo hair after swimming.
