GE-132 also known as Germanium Sesquioxide, is a mineral that is found throughout nature in many plants. In fact, many therapeutic plants can attribute part of their medicinal value to the high concentration of this nutrient. In the mid-1970's, Dr. Asai discovered high amounts of germanium in plants such as aloe vera, garlic, ginseng and comfrey with the most found in the Reishi mushroom (ganoderma lucidum). During his studies he synthesized many germanium compounds and found bis-germanium sesquioxide to be the most stable and non-toxic. It was found to have potent antioxidant and antiviral effects with the most pronounced function being its action as a detoxifier in heavy metal poisoning.* For years it has been used in the Asia as an oral supplement for immunomodulating (immune enhancing) and topically (in soaps and creams) as a skin cleanser.
