Later, he directed the Brain Bio Center's Publications Committee, in preparing the landmark book, "Mental and Elemental Nutrients -- a Physician's Guide to Nutrition and Health Care."
Dr. Pfeiffer's work has been expanded on by A. A. Chaplan, M.D., Ph.D. -- an associate, who (after both institutional and private practice) served at the NYU Brain Research Lab and as director of the California Brain Bio Center.
Dr. Chaplan was the motivating force behind En Garde's founding, and remains one of the principal reasons for our success. We are fully committed to his concern with producing products that are formulated for maximum absorption and effect; and with synergistically acting combinations of products. This is needed because people are "whole," complex entities. Single nutrients -- or simple combinations of nutrients -- rarely can resolve any complex nutritional problem.
As Dr. Chaplan often reminds us: "You need a set of the right ingredients in the right proportions to make a cake; many instruments to make an orchestra; and as the Scotch say, 'many a mickle to make a muckle'." He also insists that "detail is on the side of the Lord -- and the basis for doing as much good as you can." And, because of his insistence that we be guided by the Hippocratic oath (under which doctors swear to "do no harm"), our products are also designed with safety fully in mind at all times.
