Each tablet provides a combination of four distinct types of carnitine — L-carnitine fumarate, acetyl-L-carnitine arginate (dihydrochloride), glycine propionyl-L-carnitine HCl and acetyl-L-carnitine taurinate (hydrochloride) in a kosher formula — to improve emergy and athletic performance.

Individually, each type of carnitine makes its own contribution to energy production. L-carnitine carries fatty acids into the mitochondria of cells, where they are used to produce biological energy in the form of ATP. Propionyl-L-carnitine is capable of fueling the Krebs cycle (one of the body's main energy production vehicles) at the succinyl-CoA level. Acetyl-L-carnitine provides acetyl groupls that help synthesize acetyl-CoA, a key compound in the Krebs cycle.

However, new clinical studies have shown that when L-carnitine, propionyl-L-carnitine, and acetyl-L-carnitine are combined, they have a remarkable synergistic effect. In fact, this combination of carnitines was shown to significantly increase peak running speed, total work load, and VO2 max in athletes compared to both placebo and individual carnitine ingredients.
